His Will Be Done

By D’Anthony Nance

Sweat pouring, blisters forming
I move every brick with determined focus
Because the foundation I will call home
Needs to be sturdy enough
To house my wife’s laughter
And my son’s future
Even on the hard days
When my body aches from stress
I will always remain resilient
For I am the thunder that cracks the sky
Unafraid to cry in the midst of life’s storms
Warriors call it pride
Enemies ask questions why?
To unsure how to fly
Above limitations
While I set the standard for heroic feats
The journey gets bumpy, the roads confusing
But, the results obtained make the man
If circumstances don’t defeat his mind
He will become more than I am
