From a tender age, Janice’s creative spirit was joyful in creating designs and drawings with much colour and texture. All things inspired her, from the landscape, birds & animals, to sparkles on the snow.
Formal education began in 2007-2009 with instruction in watercolour, and still continues to the present with workshops at Haliburton School of Art & Design, McMichael Gallery in Kleinburg, private instruction and painting time spent with like-minded creators. While she loves working in a variety of mediums which include soft pastel, oil, acrylic, watercolour, india ink and encaustic, she is currently captivated by the use of Acrylic. Her instinctive style of painting wet-on-wet layers is quick and deliberate, perfectly suited to the fast-drying medium. Her interest in an array of subject matter is reflected in her diverse collection of works.
Janice has exhibited her work on art tours, numerous juried and group shows, with her solo debut in 2020. She has received awards for the Best 2D Work in the Show (Sky & Field, acrylic on canvas), and Best Use of Media (Thriving Oasis, acrylic skins on canvas). Her painting, Kaleidoscope (watercolour on paper), was featured on the cover of the e-journal, Economic Development for Canada.
