Since the mid-80s Ted Tiemessen has been working with glass to create brilliant pieces.
Be it hanging stained glass artwork, lamp shades or even custom commissioned awards for organizations, Ted has slowly mastered the art. His frames include zinc and copper, magnifying the beauty of the coloured glass.
He has developed a mix of realism and abstract works, depending on his inspiration and mood at the time.
Having started working with stained glass as a hobby, the passion for his projects became more intense over the years. He eventually moved on to add warmed glass sculptures such as bowls, candle holders and trays. Each its own piece of highly functional artwork.
The long time Muskokan has also incorporated natural items into some of his more recent works.
Finding wood, quartz and other rocks on his property, Ted uses them along with stained glass to make small sculptures suitable for desktops or tables. Many include a bench, a tree a piece of rock, expertly hand made by Ted.
These are also functional, with the benches serving as a spot to place business cards or even welcome notes.
