Aiden Courville named Gravenhurst HS September athlete of the month

Gravenhurst Gryphons senior boys volleyball team member Aiden Courville was named the high school’s athlete of the month for September.

Aiden received the honour for being a reliable member of the team who attends every practice, is very receptive to feedback, helps all of his teammates, and comes early to help set up.  Aiden was also instrumental in the team’s first win against St. Dom’s.

In that win, Gravenhurst defeated St. Dom’s in three straight games (scores were 25-17, 25-10 and 26-24). In addition to Aiden’s efforts, Gravenhurst received excellent serving by Jaxon Lami to help the Gryphons come from behind to take the third set and win the match.

In Muskoka-Parry Sound boys soccer action, the Huntsville Hoyas won their second straight on Tuesday, 3-1 over St. Dom’s. Johnny Fiorini scored his second and third goals of the high school season, while Zach Caplan added the other for Huntsville. The Hoyas won their first match 2-0 over Almaguin, with Fiorini and Dante Occhiuzzi scoring in the win.

Meanwhile, the boys from Bracebridge-Muskoka Lakes SS (BML) tied St. Dom’s 0-0 before defeating Almaguin 5-1 to start the season. Lucas Hills and Wesley Janas each scored two for BML in the win.
