Protests Planned For This Week

A protest and counter protest are being organized for September 20

Everyone has a right to peaceful demonstration and protesting … but, the things we should really be protesting and demanding action for are less taxes, affordable housing, smaller government, decreased energy and fuel costs, etc.

However, a planned protest on September 20 has nothing to do with any of those items that would benefit all Canadians.

After seeing local people holding call to action signs for the protest near Huntsville High School, I reached out on Messenger to one of them to find out what was up.

In turn, I noticed certain social media postings that seemed to be counter to this protest.

The sign holder/protester sent me a link to a website called 1 Million March 4 Children.

I visited their site, and their front page explains that they are asking for the removal of the sexual orientation and gender identity curriculum, pronouns, gender ideology and mixed bathrooms in schools. They state this is about protecting children.

The problem is when you go deeper and see they literally discredit certain individuals right to exist as they see fit – which as long as you’re not hurting anyone, you should be allowed to do.

After finding out about the protest and why it was being held, I understood why there were messages being posted on social media platforms, shared from Muskoka Pride, that included “No Space for Hate” and other ones.

This image circulated this week via Muskoka Pride as a way of countering a planned protest.

I messaged Muskoka Pride and they confirmed what I believed to be true: these were to counter the planned protests.

As well, we learned late on Sunday that counter protests are being coordinated by The North Simcoe Muskoka District Labour Council for September 20. They are asking those interested to register by emailing their organization at info@nsmdlc.org
