Find Those Eggs!

Community Easter Egg hunts taking place throughout Muskoka this weekend

The colourful, chocolately goodness of Easter Egg treats is an unmatched childhood (maybe even adulthood) favourite.

Perhaps the best part is hunting them down when hidden in homes and cottages, or outdoors on properties. The most delicious are often the ones that take the most work to find.

In our home, there have been years when Easter Eggs have finally been found, albeit accidentally, in May and even June.

If you don’t want to do one at home, there are a pair of FREE – yes, free! – community events organized for Easter weekend are taking place throughout Muskoka.

Just remember to BYOB – Bring Your Own Basket!

The annual Easter Egg hunt at Muskoka Heritage Place in Huntsville is always full of joyful excitement.

Friday, March 29

In Bracebridge on Good Friday, the Easter Egg Scramble for kids aged 10 and under is taking place at JD Lang Park (the Fairgrounds) beginning at noon. The organizers remind everyone to dress for the weather. There will be some farm animals available to pet prior and an activity section from the District of Muskoka. The Easter Bunny will be in attendance.

Saturday, March 30

The Port Carling Lions Club’s annual egg hunt at Hanna Park takes place at 10 a.m. Hunting zones by age. Coffee and hot chocolate for all (while disposable cups will be on site, the organizers encourage bringing your favourite mug). As well, they ask that you register your family to ensure there are enough eggs for all the hunters: https://forms.gle/CVSeQDBz5sk1rZpt

Sunday, March 31

The immensely popular Easter Egg hunt for children aged 10 and under at Muskoka Heritage Place (88 Brunel Road, Huntsville) takes place on Easter Sunday. Thousands of eggs are hidden around Pioneer Village and kids are split by age groups for hunting. Those who find one of the handful of Golden Eggs get a special prize from event sponsor the Nutty Chocolatier. Doors open at noon with the hunt running from 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m. – or when all the eggs are collected.

Down highway 11, an “Egg Hunt Eggstravaganza” event will also be taking place at noon at the Gravenhurst Wharf event field. Collected eggs can be redeemed at Boston Pizza in exchange for an Easter Gift Bag. There will be prizes for the individuals with the most eggs collected and the best Easter outfit.
